Events for Big Kids

  1. OBOB Book Club: Gaby, Lost and Found & The Year of the Book

    October 29, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Storytime Room

    Come discuss Battle of the Book books and answer trivia about a different book each session. Sept. 17: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. Oct. 1: One and Only Ivan. October 15: The Trouble with Chickens. Oct. 29: Gaby, Lost and Found & The Year of the Book. Registration Required. Grades 3-5, drop-off.

  2. Read to the Dogs

    October 30, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM @ Children's Room

    Practice your reading to one of our friendly and adorable trained therapy dogs. Grades 1-5, with adult. To register call the Children’s Division (503) 350-3600 or stop by the Children’s Desk on the first floor of the Library. Registration begins one month before each program.

  3. Halloween Carnival

    October 31, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Meeting Rooms A and B

    Drop by the library for some pre-trick or treat fun! We will have carnival games, a costume parade, and some special treats! Grades 1-5 with family, drop-in

  2. Spooky Storytime and Movie

    October 30, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Storytime Room

    Come hear a not-too-spooky storytime and follow it with a short classic Halloween movie in the Auditorium. Ages 2-8 with family.

  3. Think Fun Thursdays!: Movie

    Watch a great movie! Ages 3-8 with adult, drop-in.

  1. Music & Movement Storytime

    October 25, 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM @ Meeting Rooms A and B

    Dance, jive, and use rhythm props in this movement-focused storytime. Great for wiggleworms! Ages 2-5 with family, drop-in.

    Dress in your costume while dancing to fun, spooky Halloween music and parade around the library! Ages 0-6 years with their family, drop-in.

Storytimes

  1. Family Storytime

    October 25, 1:00 PM @ Storytime Room

    Family storytime is open to all ages and can be enjoyed by the whole family. We share books, fingerplays, action rhymes, sing songs, and get up and move to music! Storytime always concludes with a simple and fun craft that goes with the day’s theme.

  2. Spanish Storytime

    October 25, 3:00 PM @ Storytime Room

    -Stories -Songs -Rhymes -Fingerplays -Crafts Spanish Storytime is told only in Spanish.

  3. Toddler Storytime

    October 28, 10:15 AM @ Storytime Room

    Toddlers will enjoy this interactive storytime that includes books, action songs, rhymes, flannelboard stories, and other fun activities that will encourage a love of reading and books! There is also a simple craft to do or take home at the end of each storytime. Limited to first 50 people.

    This storytime is designed for 1-year-olds and features fun with bubbles, songs, short books, and rhymes.The last 15 minutes are set aside for playtime with developmental toys and board books related to the theme that parents can check out! There is also an interactive craft that promotes early literacy, fine motor, and language skills. These crafts can be made at storytime or taken home to enjoy.

  8. Baby Bugs

    October 29, 11:45 AM @ Storytime Room

    Come and join us for a fun and interactive Baby Bugs Storytime! In the first 15 minutes, babies and their caregivers will move and listen to songs and books or rhymes and songs. In the last 15 minutes, there is playtime with developmental toys and books which include a special collection of soft books and board books that can be checked out. Occasionally there is also a special activity like Memory Books or Texture Boards to do at the conclusion of storytime.

    Preschool Storytime is filled with interactive books, flannelboard stories, music, and songs that will help your child develop the skills they need to get ready to read! It also promotes critical and imaginative thinking as well as social skills! A craft at the end reinforces the storytime theme.
