Teen Library Council

Library Books

The teen library council offers teens in grades 6–12 the opportunity to make a positive difference and have some input in the way that your community library is working for you and your peers.

As a volunteer, you will be able to:

  • Plan and help out with teen events
  • Suggest books, movies, music and other materials for purchase
  • Promote the library to your peers

In the process, you will:

  • Make friends
  • Get volunteer credit
  • Gain skills and experience for the future (this looks great on a college or job application!)
  • Perhaps most importantly, HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

The council meets the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the main library, and on the second Thursday of every month from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Murray Scholls Branch.

Meeting attendance and participation in events are expected.

To apply, fill out BCL Volunteer Application (PDF) and Teen Library Council Membership Application (PDF).

Please submit both to the young adult desk. We will schedule an interview with you.
