Volunteer Opportunities at Murray Scholls
We need volunteers to work a minimum of two consecutive hours each week for at least three months. Some volunteer tasks may require less frequent volunteer shifts.
The Beaverton City Library @ Murray Scholls does not offer volunteer opportunities for court ordered community service.
Some positions require a thorough background check, particularly if you will be working with patrons unsupervised.
Shelving
Volunteers assist with shelving holds & videos, and other tasks as needed. This is the most needed volunteer position in the Library and a great way to get started as a Library volunteer.
Summer Reading Volunteers
Stay busy this summer and volunteer to help with our busy Summer Reading Program - register kids for the program, distribute prizes, assist with programs, help create craft projects, assist with book displays and more! This position fills up quickly so interested teens should submit a volunteer application in early spring.
Technical Assistants
Technical Assistants provide a vital service to our patrons. After five hours of training at the Main Beaverton City Library, adult volunteers will roam the floor, offering technical support to patrons. You may be assisting with formatting word documents, helping patrons open an email account, addressing printer problems and copier questions and more. This position requires a minimum six month requirement.
Homework Helper
During the school year, adult volunteers help children and teens with homework in the afternoons and evenings, Monday - Thursday. The Branch provides Homework Help to students in grades 2 - 12 with an emphasis on advanced math & science.
Library Boards
Contact Jennifer Johnson, the volunteer coordinator at (503) 526-3703 or jjohnson@beavertonoregon.gov if you are interested in joining the Foundation Board or the New Friends of the Library Board. Meetings are held at the Main Beaverton City Library.
