One Book, One Beaverton 2024 title announcement
What if all of Beaverton read the same book?
Beaverton City Library is pleased to announce that The Many Daughters of Afong Moy by Jamie Ford is the selection for our sixth-annual One Book, One Beaverton community-wide reading program.
A "Read with Jenna" Today Show Book Club Pick, Ford’s novel is a multigenerational epic, a haunting love story, and a fascinating exploration of the legacy of loss and trauma rippling through a family across time. The author is best known for his debut novel, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, which spent two years on the New York Times bestseller list and won the 2010 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature.
Get your free copy of the book starting Saturday, Nov. 4, at a special book giveaway at both library locations (Main: 11 AM - 2PM; Murray Scholls: 10 AM - 6 PM). We will continue to distribute books after that date as supplies last.
During the month of January, we invite you to attend a series of related events and book discussions, and the program will conclude in An Evening with Author Jamie Ford at the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts on Saturday, Feb. 10. Complimentary tickets for the author event will be available starting Nov. 10 at thereser.org.
