    What can or can't my landlord do? What rights do I have when speaking with the police? How do I deal with an unruly tenant? What will happen to my parents' house when they pass away? The Washington County Law Library provides research training, legal reference assistance, and access to a variety of legal information resources. Law librarians can help identify relevant legal research materials, provide instruction on effective use of resources, and provide referrals to appropriate agencies or organizations. Note: library staff may not engage in the practice of law, so are prohibited from interpreting legal materials or advising patrons on their legal right. During these visits, the law librarian will provide legal reference assistance, track statistics, provide information about the Law Library to patrons, and, when appropriate, refer patrons back to the library or to legal aid or other legal service providers.   19. Story Slam: Halloween Edition

    It is that time of year - for tricks, treats, and spookiness. Come tell or listen to a story based on the themes “Trick or Treat” and “Spooked, Frightened, or just Plain Scared.” Beaverton City Library's Story Slam is a friendly, open-mic storytelling competition. Potential storytellers will put their names in a hat; names will be picked from the hat and those chosen will take to the stage to tell their true, personal, 5- to 8-minute story. Come put your name in the hat to tell a story or just to enjoy the show! Stories must be told from memory. The winner receives a $10 gift certificate to The Book Corner. This program is free and open to the public; recommended for ages 13 and up. Potential storytellers should arrive 15 minutes early to speak with the event host about their planned story.
